Alva Dillon Grove, well known retired farmer, 14 East avenue, died at the Washington County Hospital, Thursday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock of complications after an illness of four weeks, aged 80 years. He was born and spent most of his life at the family home, Mount Airy, near Sharpsburg, the son of Steven P. and Maria Dillon Robinson Grove. He was a member of the Episcopal Church, Knights of Pythias and past master of the Masonic Lodge, Sharpsburg.
Surviving are: wife, Julia K. Mumma and daughter, Miss Frances Louise Grove.
The body was removed to the A. K. Coffman Funeral Home where services will be held on Saturday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock with Rev. Dr. Walter Byron Stehl officiating. Interment in Mountain View cemetery, Sharpsburg.
