She was born July 18, 1924 to the late Homer Ray Pever and Jessie Bowers Pever in Athens, AL.
Mary enjoyed doing word search puzzles, traveling, bird watching and African violets. She retired after years of dedication from teaching developmental disabled adults in Athens, AL. Her most precious memories were times spent with her family.
Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, Obid Bliss (O.B.) Johnson; two sisters, Cyrena Avis Pever Moore and Barbara Ellen Pever Dedmon Young; one brother, Simon Ray Pever; and one granddaughter, Lori Johnson.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna VanDevender and husband Karl; two sons, James Johnson and wife Diane and Earl Johnson and wife Carolyn; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at the Athens City Cemetery. Limestone Chapel Funeral Home is assisting the family.
