Frank was the son of Herman Baecht and Katherine Keckheisen.

Frank's father was a native of Hessen, Germany and worked as a tailor. He came to America in 1870 and settled in Chicago where he was a designer for the clothing manufacturers Leopold Kuh and Company. He later designed for Kuppenheimer Company, but lost everything in the Chicago fire.

Frank's mother, Katherine, was born in New York City. In 1882, she and her husband, Herman, moved to San Diego, California. They moved to San Francisco in 1896, and she died there the following year.

Frank was educated in Chicago public schools before entering St. Louis University in St. Louis, Missouri. He graduated with the degree of Doctor of Medicine in 1895. After graduation, he moved to Brussels, Calhoun County, Illinois where he practiced medicine.

Frank married Rose Cecilia Keim on 07 Jan 1896 in Brussels. Their oldest children were born there, including a son, Francis, who died in infancy in 1901.

In 1902, the Baechts moved to St. Louis for 2 years. Another son, Clarence, was born there in 1903, but the family returned to Brussels in 1904.

Rose suffered from serious health problems for several years. They moved to Stroud, Oklahoma in hopes that her health would improve there, but again returned to Brussels 8 years later.

Rose died in February of 1915. [Note: A biography about Dr. Baecht has her death listed as February of 1914. However, her stone is engraved 1915.]

After Rose's death, Frank moved his practice to Grafton in Jersey County, Illinois.

Frank served as a first lieutenant in the United States Army Medical Corps during World War I. He was initially stationed at Camp Greenleaf in Georgia, but was then assigned to Hoboken, New Jersey. Just as he was set to embark for Europe, the war ended. He received his discharge at Camp Crane near Allentown, Pennsylvania in 1918.

Frank's second wife was Rowena T. Bray. They were married in 1924. She was a teacher for 7 years prior to their marriage, and later worked as a salesperson in a department store.

Frank's youngest son, Ed, was a major league baseball pitcher for the Phillies, Cubs and St. Louis Browns during parts of the 1920's and 1930's.

Frank was a Mason. He attained the thirty-second degree of the Scottish Rite and was a Noble of the Mystic Shrine. He was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows.

He was a member of the Jersey County Medical Society. He also belonged to the Illinois State Medical Society and the American Medical Association.

Frank died 1 month before his 78th birthday in an ambulance while en route to a Jerseyville hospital. He was survived by his second wife, Rowena; and 5 children, Frances, Gertrude, George, Clarence and Ed.

Frank was also survived by 2 brothers, Charles and Edward Baecht of San Diego, California; and 1 sister, Mrs. John Brown of National City, California.
