Jerrel D. Davis, 65, son of John Jadie and Donnie Elizabeth Davis of Hazlehurst, died Saturday, December 18, 2004, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. Services were Tuesday, December 21, 2004, at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Clinton with burial in Lakewood Memorial Park.

Jerrel was a longtime resident of Clinton, born in Copiah County in 1939 where he lived until he married in 1963. Jerrel worked as a foreman, welder, and manufacturer. He was formerly employed by Amico Steel, Blaw-Knox Steel and Kuhlman Electric of Crystal Springs. He was exceptionally gifted as solving mechanical problems.

Jerrel is survived by wife, Barbara Ann Carr Davis; brother-in-law, Keith Carr; daughters, Adonia Georgette and Birdie Babbette and their husbands, Jim Turner and Darren LaMarca, respectively; and six grandchildren. He is survived by 3 of his 11 remaining siblings, brother, Carroll Davis and sisters, Diane Thedford, wife of Don Thedford, all of Hazelhurst, as well as Janie Pearl Pitts Edwards of Vicksburg.

Jerrel lived a Christian life practicing the teachings of the Bible daily. His philosophy was that God will do what Gods going to do, but he expects us to be nice and respect one another. He has been a member of Morrison Heights Baptist Church since the early eighties.
