Viropa Man, 108
Wants a pension
Article published in Clarksburg Exponent 1923
Wilson Jones of Viropa is 108 years old, and he says in a letter received by Mrs Cartane. Lockman, of Clarksburg, executive secretary of the Red Cross, and he wants his pension. Mr Jones does not state whether he has been entirely overlooked by the government since his discharge from the army in April, 1866, but he is in earnest in urging the Red Cross to help him out.

The text of the letter follows:
"I want to know if you can get my pension for me, please mam. If you can get it for me I wish you would try for me. My age is 108 years. My last birthday was the 5th day of February, 1923, and I have not got it yet. I fought in the Old Silver (Civil) war, my Company B, 17 Ridagement. I was discharged on the 25th day of April in the year 66 and I am old. Have not had a penny yet. My captain's name was Tom Hambo, Sigen (sergant) John William. My name is Wilson Jones. Please let me hear from you at once."
