Daniel Lafayette McCorkle, age 76, died suddenly Saturday morning August 13, 1955 at his home in Eros after working in his garden. Services were conducted at Salem Baptist Church outside of Eros and was buried in the church cemetery.
He was survived by his wife Dollie Louise Pilcher McCorkle, one son Thomas Presley McCorkle of West Monroe, three daughters, Ethel Lovelady of Arizona, Eula Mills of Indian Village, and Edith Cox of Chatham.
Three sisters, Fanny McGough of Shreveport; Mary Jones and Nina Flayton, both of West Monroe and two brothers, Joe McCorkle and Sam McCorkle, both of Mississippi.
His body lay in state at home until time for services.
