Liane M. Shorten, 67, died May 20, 2012, in Stuart.

She was born in Providence, R.I., and lived in Stuart for four years, coming from Kingston, R.I.

Before moving to Stuart, she was a registered nurse and cared for patients in physician's offices and hospitals throughout Rhode Island.

In Stuart, she was president of her condominium association board.

Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Robert; sons, Greg Shorten of Cary, N.C., and Eric Shorten of Fort Myers; sister, Daryl Anderson of Narragansett, R.I.; brother, Curt Schmid of Wakefield, R.I.; and seven grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Peace Dale Public Library, 1057 Kingstown Road, Peace Dale, R.I. 02879.

A service will be at 10 a.m. May 25 at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Stuart.

A burial service will follow at All Saints Cemetery in Jensen Beach.

A subsequent memorial service will be held in Rhode Island at a later date.
