Roy S. Ainsworth, 81, a retiree, died Friday, February 02, 2007 at home. Funeral services are 2 p.m. today at Cato Baptist Church in Mendenhall with burial in the D'Lo City Cemetery. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Mendenhall, MS is handling the arrangements.

He volunteered March 16, 1943 at the age of seventeen in the US NAVY and he was discharged on April 30, 1946. He served on the USS Kalinin Bay during the Battle of Leyte Gulf in the Philippians during World War II, he received the presidential unit ribbon bar with bronze star and other medals. He enjoyed going to the ships reunion for the last 16 years.

He was a Master Mason and Past Master of D'Lo lodge number 230. He was a faithful member and deacon of the Cato Baptist Church. He lived in the Cato community for over 48 years. He loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much. He loved to hunt with his boys.

Survivors include: wife Martha Jeanette Ainsworth, sons Robbie W. and Rene Ainsworth, T Mike and Dawn Ainsworth, Rick A. and Dodie Ainsworth, a daughter Sylvia "Sibby" and Lynn Lewis. Grandchildren: Shelley and Shane Gibson, Amy and Michael Tullos, Jason, Zachery, Brittany, Tanner, and Cory Ainsworth, Jennifer and Justin Lewis, Great Grandchildren: Ellie Gibson and Madison Tullos.

Memorials may be sent to Mississippi Lung Association and Cato Baptist Church.
