Dell Clair
Andover was again called upon to suffer the loss of one of her substantial citizens and prosperous farmers last Saturday morning, when Dell Clair passed to the beyond.
Mr. Clair was taken suddenly ill Easter Sunday. A clot of blood was formed in his right leg, below the knee. The disease was so rapid in its work that amputation became necessary in order to save his life. He rallied from the operation and returned to his home in East Valley, where his friends hoped for his complete recovery, but the strain upon his heart was too great and he passed suddenly away Saturday morning.
Mr. Clair was born in Andover, Nov. 24, 1857, and had lived in this vicinity all of his life. He was twice married and leaves his wife, Mrs. Emma Clair, and four children from the first marriage, Mrs. Wm. Green and John Clair, of Andover, and Byron Clair and Mrs. Jane Dawson, of Hornell.
Funeral services were held at his late residence in East Valley, Tuesday afternoon, Rev. W. P. Trowbridge officiating.
Burial was in East Valley.
