Mrs. Mattie J. Arnold Towner died at the home of her son, Howard, 138 North Elmira street, Athens, Tuesday morning at 6 o'clock. She had been in failing health for some time and had reached the age of 83 last June 28. She is survived by one son and one daughter, Howard Arnold and Mrs. Hallie Orr of Elmira; 21 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. The funeral was held at the Powers funeral home Thursday at 2:30 with Rev. Youngs of the Methodist church officiating. Internment in the Tioga Point cemetery.
