Grace Irene Escott passed away peacefully Friday, April 27, 2012 with family members by her side. She was 83 years old. Grace was born July 31, 1928 to Frederick and Louise White in London, England. She married Tom Escott in 1954. Grace and Tom came to California in 1967 with their three children. In 1970 they moved to The Salvation Army Camp Redwood Glen in Scotts Valley where they faithfully served for 26 years. Grace was an active member of The Salvation Army from early childhood and served the Lord faithfully all her life. She loved music and for many years led The Salvation Army band and songsters at the Santa Cruz Corps. She was a compassionate and caring person who enjoyed visiting the residents of local rest homes to bring the gospel message in word and song. For many years Grace served as secretary at Garfield Park Village and later was the Activities Director at The Salvation Army Silvercrest Retirement Community. In later years Grace and her husband lived in Felton and became members of the Felton Presbyterian Church where she enjoyed praising the Lord and singing in the choir. Grace is survived by Tom Escott, her loving husband of 58 years, her children, Mark Escott, Sharon Torchio, and Jonathan Escott as well as 8 grandchildren. A celebration of Grace's life will be held at Cypress Lawn Memorial Park, 1370 El Camino Real, Colma, CA 94014 May 9, 2012. Interment, 11:30 a.m. Service 12:00 p.m. in the Noble Chapel. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, contribution may be made to Felton Presbyterian Church at 6090 Hwy 9, Felton, CA, 95018 or The Salvation Army.
