Ernest Gill married Ethel Runnels on December 24, 1904, in Kalamazoo, Michigan and they had one son Edward Runnels Gill in 1906. It is written that Ernest worked as a Manager with the Telephone Company. Records show that he worked with the Telephone Company in Duluth, Minnesota in 1900, Antigo, Wisconsin in 1905, Allen Colorado and later lived in Pomona, California, in 1914. In the 1920s Ernest is listed as living in Pomona, California and later listed as living back in the Midwest in Lebanon, Indiana.
Ernest moved back to California in the late 1930's, where he settled after he retired from the Telephone Company. Ernest moved to the city of Redondo Beach, California and managed the Building known as the Hotel Redondo, located near the old Redondo pier in Redondo Beach, California. He worked and lived at the building until his death on August 11, 1953, at the age of 83.
Ernest Richard Gill was survived by his son and two grandchildren.
