Michael was the son of David King and Sophia Ginder. He married Susannah Deardorff (January 3, 1828, Sugar Creek, Tuscawaras Co., OH),and Mary Judd. Michael and Susannah were the parents of 15 children, including these twelve: Hiram, Irenaeous, Ea, Sophia, Helen, Leah, Sarah, Wilson, Edward, Alfred and David. Second wife Mary Judd was born 29 September, 1818 at Kint, England. She was the daughter of Mathew Judd and Mary Fleet. Her family immigrated to the U.S. and to Stark Co., OH in 1830. She was first married to a Mr. Elliot.

He sold out his home in Stark County and moved to Tuscarawas Co., OH were he lived 48 years. After his marriage to the second wife, Michael King moved to her farm of 84 acres.
