The 1850 Caldwell County, N.C. Census shows that Samuel was 35 years old, a farmer, and living with his wife Henrietta, his son Marion and a Joseph Palmer (21). Next neighbors were M.R. Hays and Michael Winkler.
By 1854 Samuel P.C. was living in Harmansville, Polk County, Missouri.

Aged 35, according to Hickory, Tyler Township, Missouri Census Record of 1860, Samuel was a farmer and living with wife Henrietta, and children Marion Lafayette, Abner Labon, Mary Catherine, Martha Sophronia, and Sarah Jane. Neighbors were Jonathan Chaney and Jarvis Starkey.
Samuel fought in and survived the Civil War.
Sometime in the 1860's the family moved to Callaway County, M.O.
