Jesse was born on the plantation of John Welch Prewitt in Northport Alabama on Thursday, August 10, 1854, to Ned and Lucy Prewitt. He was the third child of twelve children born to that union; seven boys and five girls.
His parents, son Thomas "Tommie", two infant daughters, sister Febbie, brothers Albert, Marshall, and Perry preceded him in death.
Jesse was a farmer and owned a small grocery store in Muskogee Oklahoma.
He first married Matilda Prewitt in Tuscaloosa Alabama about 1879. He later married Allie Pruitt about 1905. To this union, six children were born. After many years of marriage, Jesse and Allie separated and later divorced.
In his 73rd season, Jesse quietly transitioned to Eternal Rest on Saturday, February 25, 1928, in the township of Agency Township, Muskogee Oklahoma.
He leaves behind to carry on his legacy are children; son Al Bert Prewitt, Willie Daniel Prewitt, and daughter Jessie Rzella Prewitt. Brothers; Frank (Ida) Prewitt, Johnson (Mary) Prewitt, Ned (Queen) Prewitt Jr., sisters; Pollie (Sam) Palmer, Lucy Prewitt, and Elvira (Samuel) Prewitt.
His final hour will be shared on Wednesday, February 29, 1928, at 2:00 PM. Wright & Smith Funeral Home. Burial will be at Taft Cemetery.
