Anna Haverlock was born in Osceola Mills, Pennsylvania, the eldest daughter of Jacob and Pauline "Bessie" (nee Beresky) Haverlock. She married John Buida on May 13, 1907. Anna and her husband John lived in Cambria County, Pennsylvania where John worked as a coal miner. Anna was the mother to four children; John (who died as an infant), Thomas, Julia and Nicholas. She was left a widow in 1915 after her husband died in a mining accident. At age 23 she was widowed with three children aged 5, 3 and 1 years. After her husband's death she returned to Osceola Mills where she worked hard to support her children. She died of heart disease at age 53.
