John Buida was born Joannes Bujda to Thomas and Susanna (Rojko) Bujda in Kurov, Bardejov, Slovakia which at the time of his birth, part of Austria Hugary. John emmigated to America, arriving at Ellis Island, N.Y, on April 5, 1901 aboard the "Rhein". He stated he had $15.00 and was going to join brother-in-law Konstatin Sprigo in Trauger, PA. (Konstatin's wife Susanna Bujda remained in Kuro). By September of 1904, John Buida was living in South Fork, Cambria county, Pennsylvania (this is know, as Konstatin Sprigo states that he is going to join his brother-in-law, Janos Buida in South Fork, PA in a "Kronprinz Wilhelm" passanger list September 13, 1904)
John Buida married Anna Haverlock Buida and they have four children, John who died as an infant, Thomas, Julia and Nicholas. John worked in coal mines in Cambria County, Pennsylvania.
John Buida was killed at Maryland Shaft No.1 Mine, in St. Micheal's, Croyle township, Cambria county, Pennsylvania. He was an inside motorman and was killed by cars at the mine entry. He was survived by his wife and three children ages 5,3, and 1 years.
