Mildred C. Lagrou, 94, of Spokane, Wash., and former Sandpoint, Idaho, resident died Wednesday, April 8, 2009, in Spokane. She was born Dec. 29, 1914, in Almont, N.D., the daughter of Hogan and Anna Anderson. She moved to the Sandpoint area as a small child and was raised and educated here.
She married Henry Lagrou on June 2, 1943 in Havre, Mont. Mildred was a teacher in Bonners Ferry and Sandpoint area for many years. She was a member of the Lutheran Church. She enjoyed teaching children, being a faithful wife and all the amenities of running a household including cooking, sewing, embroidering, and knitting.
Mildred also showed sincere compassion to all of her family, friends, and neighbors, especially in time of need.
Mildred is survived by three children, Don (Jodi) Lagrou of Spokane, Linda (Bill) Norberg of Spokane, Barbara Lagrou of Tacoma, Wash.; two grandchildren, Conni (Chad) Cossette of Waxahachie, Texas, and Sam (Chrissy) Lagrou of Spokane; two great-grandchildren, Collin and Corrianna of Texas; a sister-in-law, Violet McHenry of Coeur d'Alene; and numerous nieces and nephews, and cousins in North Dakota and Montana.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry, in 2008
Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 25, in Pinecrest Memorial Park. Pastor David Olson, First Lutheran Church, will officiate. Visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday morning, April 25, between 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Coffelt Funeral Service of Sandpoint
