During WWII, he served in the Marine Corps in the Pacific. He moved in 1959 to Portland, and was a laborer for Golby Bag. He moved to Yamhill in the early 1990s. In 1941, he married Gladys Tyler; they divorced. Survivors include his daughters, Marilyn Bradbury, Kathy Donell-Lovelace, Margaret Larkin and Debra Spence; sons, David and Terry; sister, Margaret Shaffer; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
