Mrs. Annie Emanuel

Mrs. Annie Emanuel, 57, wife of I. D. Emanuel, died about 3 p.m. April 6, on the Lumberton Fayetteville highway about 3 miles from St. Pauls, enroute to Lumberton, dying almost suddenly from a heart attack. She was riding on an automobile with her daughter and son-in-law when the end came. The news of her passing came as a shock to her children, friends and relatives. Deceased was an active member of Mr. Moriah Baptist church. It was noted by her husband that she sang her favorite song Sunday night before retiring to bed: subject, " I am Going to Leave you in the Hands of my Lord."
Deceased was the daughter of Allen and Francis Ransom of Robeson County. She is survived by her husband; 2 sisters and 3 brothers--Mrs. Edna Locklear of Maxton, Mrs. Lottie Jones of Raleigh, Ramon and Harley Ransom of Red Springs, George Ransom of Maxton; and the following children--Mrs. Carrie Godwin of Lumberton, Mrs. Druzilla Locklear, Mrs. Francis Chavis, Allen and C.C. Emanuel, Mrs. Lillie Mae Dial, Mrs. Lueneater Hammond. Mrs. Pearlie Mae Locklear, Mrs. Ollie Mae Locklear, Leroy and James Vester Emmanuel.
The funeral services were conducted by Rev. W. J. Sampson at Harper's Ferry Baptist church and followed by burial in the cemetery there. Pallbearers were Albert Locklear, Berry Dial, Thomas Oxendine, H. Jones. Flower firls were Miss Beulah Revels, Miss Iner Locklear, Mrs. Horace Jacobs. The grave was covered with beautiful wreaths.
She will be greatly missed by her family and all that knew her. She was a friend to every one with whom she came in touch.
