Hans B. Bonefeld Dies Today at 82
Hans B. Bonefeld, prominently known retired Escanaba furniture dealer, died today at the family home, 130 1st Ave. S. He was 82.

He was born Aug. 21, 1876, in Slesvig, Denmark, then son of George H. Bonefeld and Anne Catherine Bladt, who came to this country to settle in Stonington when he was two years old.

He first came to Escanaba when he was 15 and was employed for about ten years by the Hansen and Jensen Fish Co. He later was a partner in the Edwards a& Bonefeld Bicycle Co. for two years, and then bought the dray line of Fabian J. Defnet, which he operated as the Bonefeld Dray Line nine years. In 1922 he became associated with C. Arthur Anderson in the furniture business and funeral home profession. In 1935 yhe partnership was dissolved, Mr. Bonefeld remaining in the furniture store and Mr. Anderson continuing in the funeral home. Following his retirement, his son George assumed active management of the business.

He married the former Lydia Petersen of Washington Island, Dec. 14, 1909, in Milwaukee.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Delta Lodge 109, F. & A. M., and Impellant Lodge 460, Independent Order of Odd Fellows.

Surviving are his wife, the one son, George, one daughter, Mrs. John W. (Helen) McDonnell, and six grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Anderson Funeral Home beginning Sunday afternoon. Services will be held at the funeral home chapel Monday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. D. Douglas Seleen of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery.

Masonic Services will be held at the funeral home Sunday at 8 p.m.
