Irene Montoya, age 86, beloved and devoted mother, grandmother and Godmother, was called home to be with the Lord on September 1, 2009, while surrounded by her loving family.
Irene was born November 30, 1922 in Algodones, New Mexico to the late Alejandro Archibeque and Lucinda Baldonado.
Irene lived in the North Valley for many years where she was an active parishioner of St. Therese Catholic Church and a member of the Alter Society. Irene was currently a parishioner of Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, and an active member of the Alter Society and Senior Group. Irene was a loving and warm person who enjoyed taking care of her family. Irene will be lovingly remembered as caring, generous and devoted to her family and friends.
Irene was preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, Juan "John" in February of this year, granddaughter, Angelica Baca and son-in-law, Tom Droelle.
Irene is survived by her children whom she was so proud of, Fred Montoya and his wife, Grace, Vicky Baca and her husband, Henry, Vera Gurulé and Lidio Holguín, Gloria Droelle, Mary Lou Trias, Pedro Trias and Rhoda Berry, a very close neighbor, Angelita Cazares, a dear friend Manuelita, a very loving caregiver, eleven grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 58 Godchildren and numerous other loving family members and a host of friends.
Irene will truly be missed by all those whose hearts she touched. Visitation will be on Friday, September 4, 2009, from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 5, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. also at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church with her Godson and nephew, Msgr. Richard Olona as celebrant. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Ronnie Gonzáles, Ronald Baca, Tom Droelle, Carl Pino, Marvin Archibeque and Matthew Montoya. Honorary casket bearers will be Derik Baca and Jason Montaño.
