Jack Rice, age 89, of Nixa, passed away Friday, May 11, 2012. Jack had been a resident of the Veterans Home in Mt. Vernon for the past two years. He was born May 20, 1922 in Plattsmouth, Nebraska, the son of John and Mattie (Street) Rice. On January 22, 1942, he and Aileen Dean were united in marriage.

Jack retired from the U.S. Army in 1965. He was a World War II and Korean War veteran. Following his military career he and Aileen settled in the Springfield area. After several years Jack retired a second time as a Building Inspector for the City of Springfield. Jack and his daughter co-owned Jackie's Ceramics and Jackie's U-Store in Nixa.

Survivors include: His daughter, Jackie Perry and husband, Robert, Nixa; a granddaughter, Dr. Stacey Perry, Seattle, Washington; and a sister, Lois Trumble, Ava.

His wife, Aileen, preceded him in death on February 8, 2009. His parents also preceded him in death.

A graveside funeral will be 1:00 PM Thursday, May 17, in Protem Cemetery. Viewing for family and friends will be from 11AM until 6PM on Wednesday at Adams Funeral Home, Nixa.
