Mrs. Brashear was born August 28, 1929 in Hagerville, Texas (near Ratcliff) to Robert Press and Addie Mae (High) Griggs, and went to be with her Lord Friday, May 11, 2012 at her home, surrounded by her family. She was married to Gordon "Tip" Brashear for more than 60 years. Together they reared six children. Mrs. Brashear worked for A.G. Perry & Sons Trucking until she and Tip started Brashear Trucking Co., Inc., back in 1977. She enjoyed camping and fishing with her family. She could always be found cheering her children on with their sporting activities. Mrs. Brashear was a Lufkin High School graduate of 1946 and an avid Panther fan. She enjoyed having her children and grandchildren at her home.
Survivors include her husband, Gordon "Tip" Brashear of Lufkin; daughters, Glenda Brashear, Kelley Foley and husband Todd, all of Lufkin; sons, Randal Brashear of Diboll, Martin Brashear and wife Rene, Robert "Chip" Brashear and wife Danelle, and Kevin Brashear and special friend Nita Ivy, all of Huntington; grandchildren, Robin Brashear and fiancé Michael Knight, Shoel Brashear, Tiffanie Villasana and husband Tony, Melanie Smelley and husband Matt, Brandon Brashear, Emily and Daniel Brashear, Mackenzie and Lexie Foley; great-grandchildren, Preston Randal Villasana, Shada Rae Tullos and Kendall River Knight (arriving in September); sister, Billie Allen and husband Travis of Orange; sisters-in-law, LaVelle Griggs of Garland and Johnnie Boston of Lufkin; brothers-in-law, Harold Brashear and wife Charlene of Lafayette, Louisiana, L.B. "Snookie" Brashear and wife Betty of Orange and Bennie Brashear of Huntington; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved daughter-in-law, Melissa Woodall Brashear; and brothers, Lonnie Griggs, Murph Griggs and G.H. Griggs.
