Virginia Clore was the youngest of the four children born to Effie J. née Compton and John Henry Clore. As as child, she distinctly remembered seeing the uniforms of family members, from both sides (Union Army & CSA) of the American Civil War (1861-1865) hanging in the barn. During WW1 she worked in a U.S. boot factory, making boots for our troops in France. After the war, she met and married the handsome, yet soft-spoken, James S. Lance (a severely wounded combat veteran of WW1) and had two children. She was an amazing woman, who loved her family, gardening, sharing family history, playing card games, and all of her close friends. She died at the the impressive age of 97, with her son Jim (who's she called Bub), daughter-in-law Cleo, and great granddaughter Ashley, at her side. (bio by: Jay Lance)
