Parkinson Rites Held Tuesday
Mrs. E. W. Parkinson was a resident of Ward County since 1902.
Funeral services were conducted from the Methodist Church Tuesday afternoon, for Mrs. Eva Willora Parkinson, who passed away Sunday at the Deaconess hospital, death resulting from Parkinson’s disease. Ill for several years, Mrs. Parkinson had been bedridden for the past three years. Rev. W. H. Farthing officiated at the services and interment was made in the Lakeview Cemetery, beside the remains of a son who preceded her in death.
Pallbearers were John and Peter Schammel, Carl and Jake Hansen, P.N. Johnson, and Harold Grenvik Sr.
Eva Willora Benedict was born in Seymour, Wis., September 29, 1874, and was 63 years, 10 months and two days of age. At the age of five she accompanied her parents to Watertown, S. Dak., and on November 29, 1900 was united in marriage to Fred. W. Parkinson of Washingtonville, New York. To this union were born eight children.
In 1902 the family moved to Carpio, and later to Donnybrook where in 1919, Mr. Parkinson passed away. A short time later, Mrs. Parkinson with her family moved to Kenmare.
Left to mourn her passing are four sons, Leonard, Fred, Arthur, Merton and three daughters, Mrs. J. C. Schultz, Mrs. B. F. Sawyer, and Mrs. Royce Frederick all of Kenmare.
In addition to her children she is mourned by her aged mother, Mrs. E. S. Benedict of this city, two sisters, Mrs. C. B. Christensen, Kenmare and Mrs. C. M. Roe of Chattanooga, Oklahoma, and two brothers, M. D. Benedict of Roundup, Montana and I. J. Benedict of Werner, South Dakota.
At an early age, she confessed faith in Christ and united in the Methodist Church, and remained a faithful worker until forced to retire due to poor health. She was a kind and loving mother, a good neighbor, and will be greatly missed by her children and all who knew her.
