Doris Helen Senseney Materka Brinlee (87) was born to Harry S. and Hanna May Schlegel Senseney on 7-12-1924 in Sacramento, CA. She passed away in Dallas,TX on 4-30-2012. Raised in Washington, DC, she was a SMU graduate where she was a Rotunda Beauty and a member of Sigma Kappa. While attending SMU, she met and married William J Materka, the father of her children. She later married, Hoyt Brinlee. She held a Master of Library Science degree, and was a librarian at various public and private schools in Dallas. Doris was an independent person with a passion for reading, traveling, cats, theater, and bridge. As she endured times of physical challenge, she maintained courage and strength. Doris was a longtime member of St.Patrick Catholic Church. She is survived by two children: Lynn Materka Harnden (David), and Jan William Materka (Holly); grandchildren: Courtney, Paige, Myles, Mallory, Laurel, Will; great grandchild: Chloe. The family is grateful for the devotion of her caregiver, Bridget Ukey. Memorial Mass beginning with a Rosary at 3:30 pm, Fri., 5-11-12 at St. Patrick Church-9643 Ferndale Rd. A private burial will be held at Restland Cemetery. Donations may be given in her name to Bishop Lynch HS, or Jesuit Preparatory School, Dallas.
