Walter Gail Burks, 85, Excelsior Springs, formerly of Iberia, died Saturday at his home. He was born Feb. 10, 1912, in Ulman, a son of Walter and Ida Bass Burks. He was married June 7, 1930, to Pearl Marie Miller, who died Feb. 9, 1951. He was married Aug 11, 1956, in Rolla, to Minnie Helton Eifert, who died Dec. 30, 1981.
He was a farmer in the Iberia area for most of his life. He was a member of Ulman Christian Church.
Survivors include: one son, James Burks, Excelsior Springs; one stepdaughter, Shirley Carver, Roach; one sister, Glee Carico, Jefferson City; two grandchildren a number of step-grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia. The Rev. Quintin Davis will officiate. Burial will be in Iberia Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today.
