Willie Lee Simpson, 69, of Shawnee died Tuesday at an Oklahoma City hospital.


Mr. Simpson was born Aug. 27, 1931, in Holdenville, the son of the Rev. Riley Simpson and Ruby Lee (Johnson) Simpson.


He worked at Wonder Bread in Holdenville for five years, National Life and Accident Insurance for 22 years and Mobil Chemical for 11 years before retiring in 1993.


Mr. Simpson married Cytha Lou Vail Nov. 18, 1955, in Holdenville.


He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Munich, Germany.


He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.


Mr. Simpson was a member of the Shawnee Jaycees.


He was a resident of Ada before moving to Shawnee 37 years ago. He also lived in California for a brief time.


He was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law, John Donahoo.


Survivors include wife, Cytha Lou Simpson of Shawnee; sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Elizabeth Simpson of Shawnee and Terry Lee and Kathy Simpson of Shawnee; daughter, Debbie Miller of Branson, Mo.; sister, Dortha Wilbanks of Edmond; grandchildren, Mikel John Miller, Jessica Dianne Miller, Brittany Dawn Simpson , Hayley Nicole Simpson , Amber Nicole Simpson and Braden Garrett Simpson ; and stepgrandchildren, Wendi Moore and Dana Moore.


Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Fairview Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard Stillwell officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.
