DAVID MERRICK DOWDELL SR., former County School and Budget Board member, died Tuesday night in Tampa after a brief illness. He was 95. Dowdell, a native of Chambers County, Alabama, was one of the founders of Wimauma, a Hillsborough county community southeast of Tampa. He came to Tampa seven years ago. Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Emma Lulu Thomas Dowdell, Tampa; a son, David M. Dowdell Jr., Columbia, S.C.; and seven daughters, Mrs. Sallie M. McIntosh, Mrs. Nancy Dekle, Mrs. Mary Will Edwards, Miss Susan Dowdell and Miss Jane Dowdell, all of Tampa, and Mrs. Maude Reed, Jacksonville, and Mrs. Philip Barnette, Tallahassee.
