Obituary:
Mrs. Minnie L. Batten, 89, of Summerfield, died at 9:10 a.m. Saturday (July 27) in Good Samaritan Hospital after a short illness.
She was born in Athens County, March 2, 1879, a daughter of Thomas and Nancy Nicholson Green.
Surviving are seven daughters, Mrs. Edith Craig of Summerfield Route 1, Mrs. Gladys Philpot of Hillard, Mrs. Bernice Clark of Summerfield, Mrs. Olive Doyle of Miami, Fla., Mrs. Juanita Bates of Summerfield Route 1, Mrs. Clarice Kosp of Mount Vernon and Mrs. Betty Belcher of South Gate, Calif.; four sons, Arthur of Summerfield Route 1, Forrest of Newark, Chester of Dexter City and Robert of South Gate, Calif.; four sisters, Mrs. Bertha Hayes of Columbus, Mrs. Fannie McCollum of Ashland, Mrs. Faye Poulton of California and Mrs. Mildred Best of Meadville, Pa.; two brothers, William Green of Lancaster and Emmett Green of Wooster; 26 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren. Two daughters died in infancy. Three brother and a sister and a grandson are also deceased.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Summerfield Church of Christ with evangelist McKinley R. Bates officiating. Burial will be in Eastern Cemetery at Summerfield. Friends may call at Brubach Funeral Home in Summerfield 2 t 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today.
