She was born November 16, 1918, in Cumberland Township, a daughter of the late Emory and Mary Sowers Clapsaddle. Her husband of 61 years John C. Murray died in 1997.
For 23 years she was associated with the Gettysburg Times.
Mrs. Murray was a 50 year member of the local Annie Danner Club and served as its Treasurer for 25 years. She was a member of AARP and the Gettysburg United Methodist Church.
Arlene is survived by two daughters, Johneta Yingling and husband Norman of Gettysburg, and June Rea and husband, Ronald of New Cumberland; six grandchildren, David Stouch and Wendy Rudisill, Todd Stouch and wife, Kristyn, Ryan Stouch and wife, Laurie, Dana Rea Anthony and husband, Wayne, Lisa Rea Minnick and husband, Larry, Alan Rea and wife, Crystal; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Emory Keith Clapsaddle of Fredericksburg, VA, Arthur Bert Clapsaddle of Bel Air, MD; two sisters, Marion Fortenbaugh of Marysville, Edith Funt of Gettysburg.
She was predeceased by a brother, Earl Clapsaddle; two sisters, Janet Bailey and Anna Clapsaddle.
Funeral services will be held May 9, 2012, at 2 p.m. from Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg, with the Rev. Jay Zimmerman officiating. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Gettysburg.
