Old Resident of County Passes at Denton Creek
Thursday morning, May 27, at 1:50 o'clock, Mrs. N. H. Eggleston, one of the old and highly esteemed residents of the county, passed to her final reward at the home of her daughter Mrs. M. D. Lowe in the Denton Creek section. Mrs. Eggleston's death was due to pneumonia.
Surviving her are her husband, three sons and two daughters. Mrs. Eggleston was 76 years, 5 months and 19 days of age. While a native of Louisiana, she passed most of her life in Gonzales county, moving here over 54 years ago.
For many years she was a professing Christian and a member of the Baptist church. She was a devoted wife and mother and her godly influence will live after her, a priceless heritage to children and grandchildren.
In their bereavement the husband and other loved ones will have the warm sympathy of numerous friends.
The Denton Creek community and friends from over that section on Tuesday afternoon paid final tribute to her memory when her remains were consigned to their last resting place in the Denton Creek cemetery at 4:30 o'clock.
The impressive services were conducted by Rev. F. B. Buchann, pastor of the First Methodist church of this city, in the absence of Dr. W. K. Penrod from the city. He paid her life a splendid tribute in the course of the services. Many beautiful floral offerings made fair the last resting place of the dear wife and mother.
The acting pallbearers included Clyde Stulting, Grove Johnson, Clarence Lowe, Dolphin Floyd, Geo. Simmons and Ed Walters.
Relatives from a distance in attendance at the funeral were two sons, John Eggleston and family of Richmond, and a daughter, Mrs. D. H. Burkett of Floresville who was called to her mother's bedside when she was taken ill.
A long and useful life devoted to her God and her loved ones, has closed, to enter upon the joys prepared for them that serve the Lord.

Card of Thanks
Words fail us in expressing our deep appreciation of the kindness of friends and neighbors during the illness and at the passing of our beloved wife and mother Mrs. Esther Ann Compton Eggleston. We desire to especially thank the attending physician and the nurse for their untiring efforts in ministering to her and the telephone operators for their promptness. For the many beautiful flowers that adorned her last resting place we are sincerely grateful. Your assistance and expressions of sympathy will ever be held in grateful memory.
