Well known Sterling Farmer Dies in Beatrice after Brief Illiness

Gade J. Agena died in the hospital in Beatrice, Nebr., Friday morning, March 11, 1955 at the age of 76 years, 5 months and 27 days. He had been ill only two short weeks, having suffered from a ruptured appendix.
Gade J. Agena, son of Jann G. Agena, was born September 14, 1878 at Sterling Nebr., and was baptized on September 22 of the same year by Pastor Burger in the Immanuel Lutheran church. He was confirmed on Palm Sunday in 1894 and received as his guide through life I cor., 6:20.
He married Etta C. Foss on June 30, 1901, and to them were born two daughters, Lena and Loretta both of whom survive their father.
Mr. Agena spent all his life on the farm and was still active in work on the farm until his death. He was a kind and loving husband and father and will also be greatly missed by his grandchildren, to whom he was very devoted.
He was a life long member of the Immanuel Lutheran church.
Surviving are his wife and two daughters Lena (Mrs. Wilke Harms) of Buena Vista, Colo., and Loretta (Mrs. Raymond Kress) of Sterling, 13 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. John Hestermann Sr., and Mrs. John Huls Sr., of Sterling, and one brother Harm Agena of Adams, two brothers Martin and Bernhard proceeded him in death.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in the Immanuel Lutheran church with the Rev. C. A. Reimnitz in charge. Mrs. Ernst Hoehne sang and the choir also sang.
Pallbearers were Marvin Heusman, Norman Dirks, Wm. Buss, Erich Rathe, Norman Rathe and Harm A. Harms. Buriel was in the Immanuel Lutheran church cemetery.
