Keyport - Elmer Arose, 79 of 171 Chigarora Ave., died yesterday at Bayshore Community Hospital in Holmdel.
Born in Matawan, he had lived in Keyport for 35 years. Before his retirement 15 years ago, he was a stationary engineer for the now-defunct U.S. Coal Tar Co. of Matawan.
Mr. Arose was an army veteran of World War 1 and the American Legion, Raritan Post 23 of Keyport. He was also a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Keyport.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Kostak, Arose; two sons, Edward E. of East Brunswick and Elmer A. of Morgan; two daughters, Mrs. Irene Asero of Freehold and Mrs. Lorraine Clark of Keyport; one sister, Mrs. Olive Kilmurray of Perth Amboy; 18 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are Under the direction of the Day Funeral Home 361 Maple Place, Keyport
