Emmett Calvin Boyd, 74, of Modesto collapsed alongside the road on Pecos Avenue east of Crows Landing Road at 5:27 PM yesterday and was dead on arrival in the Stanislaus County Hospital.
A native of Arkansas, he had lived in Modesto 20 years and was a maintenance man. He was a veteran of World War I.
Surviving are two sons, Levitt Leon of the United States Navy in Long Beach and Harold of Fayetteville, Ark.
Services are pending in the Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel.
