An illness that had extended over a period of three years, but that had been of serious aspect only since last Thursday resulted in the death at 11:30 p.m., of Randolph Boyd, 72. His death occurred at the home of his son, Bert Boyd, 2521 Sidney street.
A native of Wesley, Ark., Boyd had resided in Alton for little more than a year, making his home with his son. He came to Alton from Whitner*, Ark., where he had resided for a number of years.
Surviving are six children, Emmett, Milton and Elmer Boyd, and Mrs. Grace Shipley, all of Fayetteville, Ark., Mrs. Maggie Hayes of Witner*, Ark., and Bert Boyd of Alton. He also leaves 14 grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Sunday at 3 p.m., from the Streeper funeral home. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery. The body may be seen at 5 p.m., today at the funeral home.
