Eugene Rigdon (1927 - 2009)
Eugene A. Rigdon, 82, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, in Caldwell. Gene was born Sept. 3, 1927 at Marysville, Kan. He was the eldest of seven children born to George and Ruth Beeson Rigdon. Gene spent his early life in Chillicothe, Mo., with his grandparents and in Kansas City, Kan., with his parents.
He spent two years in the army as a young man and afterward found his life-long career with Union Pacific Railroad. He worked as a telegraph operator in North Platte, Neb., where he met and married Barbara Brown. They had five children; Jerri, Cherri, Robert, Mark and Richard. They moved to Ogden, Utah where Gene was promoted to Train Master.
Their marriage ended in divorce in 1974. Gene later met and married Pat May on Jan. 8, 1981 and they enjoyed 29 years together.
Gene is survived by his wife Pat, three sisters, his children, Jerri, Cherri, Robert and Richard, step-children, Dale, Gail and Walter, 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, a brother and a son, Mark.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 9, at the Zeyer Funeral Chapel, 83 N Midland Blvd, Nampa. A viewing will be held from 9 to 10 a.m., at the funeral chapel just prior to the services.
