Dies Last Night

Howard Edgar Maddux, 78, retired cattleman and farmer, died at 11:20 last night at Jennie Stuart Hospital. He had been in declining health three years and hospitalized two days.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Fuqua FuneraI Home. Officiating will be Dr. D. M. Spears, associate pastor of First Methodist Church, assisted by the Rev. Lonnie Walker, pastor of South Union Baptist Church. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

Mr. Maddux, of E. 18th St„ was born in Trigg County, Aug. 16, 1886, the son of Thomas Y. and Veteria Alexander Maddux. He had lived in Hopkinsville for the past 20 years. He was a member Of First Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Susan Dearing Maddux; a son, Clifton (Pete) Maddux Sr., and a daughter, Mrs. George Jenkins, both of the city; grandchildren, Clifton E. Maddux Jr., Paducah. and Mrs. James T. Burns, Nashville, three great-grandchildren.
