SPARTANBURG, SC-- Betty Jean Holder, of 634 Clinchfield Street, Spartanburg, was born January 16, 1932, and passed away on May 6, 2011, in her home from an extended illness of ALS. A wife of 50 years to Carl Lane Holder, Jr. and daughter of the late Oscar and Annie Marie Brown, she was retired from J. M. Smith Corporation and a member of Beaumont Baptist Church.
She is survived by daughter-in-law, Kathy Brown; granddaughter, Michelle Holder Waddell; great-grandchildren, Anthony Shane, Sierra Kate, and Shelby Delane Waddell; brothers, James E. Brown and Harold Dean Brown; sisters, Lillie Bell Hatchette and Ruby B. Thompson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was also survived by special friends, Louis and Brent Anderson. She was predeceased by a son, William Delane Holder; two sisters; and three brothers.
A private burial will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family requests that no flowers be sent.
