"Highly Respected Farmer and Pioneer Kansan Passed Away Early Saturday Morning At Home In Ohio Township. Funeral Monday.
"--- Mr. Curtis had been in quite poor (health) for some time past. He was near 80 years of age and came to Kansas in the seventies. He first located in Rush county, then moved his family to Stafford county more than thirty years ago.
"Mr. Curtis was one of the finest gentlemen
it has ever been the good fortune of the publisher of this paper to know. Although a cripple, having lost a leg in some manner, he was always cheerful. Alll his life he was an enthusiastic Republican, but not an obnoxious one. Hovever, he never hesitated to express ihs (sic) opinion politically, or upon any other subject.
"Funeral services were held at the Leesburg Church of Christ Monday afternoon and were conducted by Elder Wm. Boaz of Stafford and Elder Tom Coats of Neola. The singers were Mrs. E.E. Warner, Miss Andrew Snell, Walter Snell and Estes Warner. Interment was in the Leesburg cemetery by the side of the good wife, who passed on several years ago. A large crowd of relatives and friends were in attendance at the service."
