Leila Mae Balz, 85, Weston died Thursday, Feb 21, 2008, at her home.
She was born July 29, 1922, in the town of Maine, to the late Edmund and Eulalia (Arndt) Woller. On Oct. 5, 1940, Leila married James Jackson Sr. in Wausau. He preceded her in death on May 29, 1967. She married Emil Balz on Feb. 20, 1971 in Wausau. He preceded her in death July 15, 1982. Leila was an accomplished seamstress, working for several Wausau area bridal shops. She enjoyed gardening, painting, playing the piano and singing along with Emil in the Balz Brothers Band.
Survivors include three daughters, Lois Jakel of Schofield, Janis (LaVern) Mootz of Mosinee and Betty Rawson of Wausau; one son, James Jackson Jr. of Madison; 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; one brother, Dave Woller of Tucson, Ariz.; four stepsons and three stepdaughters, Leila was further preceded in death by a brother Orval Woller; and sister Eulalia Roehl.
Funeral services will be at 5 pm today, Feb 24, 2008, at Helke Funeral Home, Wausau. The Rev Matthew Hein of Trinity Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, town of Maine. Visitation will from 3 pm until the time of services today at the funeral home.
