SCOTT BEATTY, 59, of Fort Wayne, died on Tuesday, March 27, 2012, doing what he loved doing, riding his motorcycle. He worked for many years as a car salesman, and last worked at Don Ayers. He had many hobbies including riding motorcycles, golfing, music, his family and beloved friends, walking his dogs, Princess and Harley, writing poetry, and playing board and card games. He was an active member and officer in the American Legion Riders at Post 241, in Waynedale. "He was a loving husband and father and will be immensly missed by all." He is survived by his wife, Sherry; daughter, Ashley (Mike) Beatty-Kopang; son, Michael (Amy) Ryan; father, Edward Eugene Beatty; sisters, Karen (Steve) Allen and LuAnn (Steve) Kurtz; brothers, Kyle Beatty and Brooks (Renee) Beatty; and grandchildren, Ty and Benjamin. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ross; and stepmother, Jean Holle-Beatty. The family would like to invite all of his beloved friends to: A Memorial celebration at 6 p.m. Friday, March 30, 2012, at American Legion Post 241, 7605 Bluffton Road, with veterans honors at 6 p.m. Preferred memorials to the Homeless Count. ~ ~ ~ A motorcyclist died when a car pulled into his path Tuesday night near Foster Park, police said.

The man was westbound on his motorcycle in the 1800 block of Bluffton Road at Broadway when a car leaving a private drive pulled in front of the motorcycle at 6:11 p.m., police said.

The man was unconscious and unresponsive when police arrived. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition and was later pronounced dead. Police did not identify the man, his age or where he was from.

He was not wearing a helmet. Neither alcohol nor drugs appear to have been a contributing factor in the crash, police said.

Bluffton Road was closed until about 8 p.m. for officers to investigate the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by Fort Wayne police, the Allen County Prosecutor's Office and the Allen County coroner. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
