HANCOCK - Lester Guy Stanley, 92, of Maryland Avenue, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Jan. 18, 1912, in Elkton, Va., he was the son of the late Harvey and Hettie Eppard Stanley.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Isabelle Ruth Fisher Stanley, in 1971.

He retired from PGS Corp. as a heavy-equipment operator.

He was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Hancock.

He is survived by one sister, Mary Smith of Williamsport; three granddaughters; four great-granddaughters; nieces; and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one son, Lester L. Stanley; two sisters, Virginia Diehl and Nellie Bennett; and two brothers, Otis Stanley and William Stanley.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Hancock. The Rev. John Barlow will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home in Hancock, which will open at 2 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Building Fund, 2 E. High St., Hancock, MD 21750.
