Essex - Funeral services for Mrs. Hazel Applequist, 74, Route 2, Essex, will be at Fremont Lutheran Church, Nyman, Tuesday, November 19, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Melvin Suhr officiating.
Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Nyman and arrangements are by Sellergren Lindell Funeral Home, Red Oak. Viewing will be at the funeral home only.
The family has suggested memorials to American Cancer Society.
A lifetime resident of Nyman, Mrs. Applequist died Sunday, November 17, at Murphy Memorial Hospital, Red Oak, after a lingering illness.
The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Aron T. Johnson, she was born February 18, 1900 in Page County and was married in 1921 to Henry Applegate, who died in 1967.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Morris N Spencer of Waukesha, Wisconsin, and Mrs. J. Jeanette Hurley, Manhattan, Kansas; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Carl Freeman, Red Oak, and two brothers, Lee Johnson of Clarinda and Lehman Johnson of Red Oak.
Mrs. Applequist had been a 4 Hl leader for over 25 years and was a member of the Fremont Lutheran Church.
