--He sang in the Boy's Choir at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in childhood.

--World War II Veteran; U.S. Navy. He joined the navy on December 8, 1941, the day after Pearl Harbor was attacked. He served in the South Pacific.
--member of Sugaw Creek Presbyterian, where he served as a deacon and sang in the choir for many years.
--member of American Legion Post 345 and VFW Post 9488.
--Occupation: Owner/Operator of Cook's Body Shop until retirement.
--He married Phyllis A. Leazer; they had 2 children: Wilbur Franklin Cook II and Linda Cook. 3 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren.
--He sang with the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing.
--Founding member of the Charlotte chapter of the Model A Restorers Club.
