D.J. Bailes, 70, Retired Banker, Dies at Seymour

Dutton J. Bailes, 70, died at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Baylor County Hospital in Seymour, where he had been a patient intermittently since Sept. 6.
Funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the First Methodist Church with the Rev. J. Lennol Hester, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery under direction of Elliston Funeral Home.
He was born March 12, 1896, in Seymour, and was a veteran of World War I, a charter member of the Seymour Golf and Country Club, American Legion, Veterans of World War I, the Maskat Shrine Temple of Wichita Falls, and the Seymour Masonic Lodge.
He retired December 31, 1965, ending a 46 year career in banking with the First National Bank of Seymour. He was executive vice president of the bank at the time of his retirement. He was a member of the First Methodist Church, in which he served on the board of trustees, and as secretary and director of the Seymour Chamber of Commerce.
He married Roslynne Howsley March 10, 1926, in Throckmorton.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dutton J. Jr. of Jacksonsville, Tex., and William Davis of Hobbs, N.Mex.;one daughter, Mrs. Maxie Louise Gammill of Commerce; one brother , C.H. Bailes of San Marcos; two grandchildren.
