The body of Mrs. John Heller was brought to Traer by relatives Monday. Mrs. Heller died last Friday at the home, of her daughter, Mrs. W. J. Rogers at Chanute, Kansas where she was sending an extended visit. Mrs. Heller left Traer several months ago to visit her children in Oregon and Kansas. She became seriously ill a few weeks ago and gradually failed. Mrs. Heller was a member of the Balliet family who located here in the early days. She was born in Luzerne county Pennsylvanian on January 4, 1846 and came to Tama county with her parents when a girl. She was almost eighty years of age.
She married John Heller here on August 18, 1864, and the couple lived here until the death of Mr. Heller seven years ago. They farmed nearly forty years, two miles east of Traer, retiring and moving to town several years before Mr. Heller's death. Surviving are three sons and three daughters, one sister, eighteen grandchildren. The children are Mary Bennett of Newport, Oregon; Lizzie Rogers, Chanute, Kansas; Richard, Traer; Rose Walden. LaPorte; Samuel, El Cano. Texas; Harvey, Waterloo.
Mrs. Heller was a member of the United Presbyterian church of Traer many years and was a wife and mother who filled her sphere well, being particularly devoted to her home. The funeral was held on Monday afternoon Rev. A. W. Martin conducted the services in the U. P. church and the body was laid to rest in Buckingham cemetery.
