SUMMERFIELD — Mr. James Clifton Barham, 89, died Friday afternoon, October 28, 2011, at Wesley Long Hospital.

Mr. Barham's funeral will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at Liberty Wesleyan Church, with Rev. Danny Janes and Pastor David Surrett officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

A Rockingham County native, Mr. Barham was born on July 5, 1922, the son of the late William Jennings and Mollie Susan Barham Barham. He was retired from Barham's Grocery where he was the owner and operator for many years. Along with running the store James other passion was farming raising tobacco and strawberries, and an active longtime member of Liberty Wesleyan Church.

Surviving are his wife of 70 years; Jaunita Neal Barham of the home, four children; J.C. Barham, Jr. and wife Ellie, Vance Barham and wife Pam all of Summerfield, Bob Barham and wife Charlene of Blowing Rock and Barbara B. Pegram and husband Frankie of Summerfield, seven Grandchildren, 15 Great Grandchildren and two Great-Great Grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Raymond Barham and 3 sisters, Mabel Fagg, Bernice Southard and Gertie Parrish.

The family will receive friends this evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Forbis & Dick Brooke Chapel.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Kelly Everette, Melody Todd and Janie Graham, his caregivers for all of their love and compassion shown to James.
