Charles William Adair was the second of three children born to John James & Emma Ellen (Wornom) Adair. His older sister was Lottie (1872-1931; married Kora Grant "Ben" Aukerman) and his younger brother was Carl Greenlee (1881-1952; married Nellie May Densberger). Charles married Julia Mary Jackson on Oct. 31, 1906 in Monmouth, Warren County, Ilinois. He was a barber, first in Kirkwood and eventually owning his own shop in Monmouth. Shortly after their marriage, Charles and Julia joined Julia's now-widowed mother in Chicago, but returned to Illinois, settling in Monmouth. Charles and Julia had three children: Dorothy (b. 9 Dec 1910), Charles Jackson (1914-1945; killed in action during WWII and buried at Manilla, the Philippines) and Josephine (born about June 1918).
